Michelle asks... I am flying to Orlando next year and my baby will be 5 months old so I will need to take lots of bottles of milk/baby food, what is the restrictions on this? Help!!!
Jo says: Ok Michelle as it stands there are restrictions on liquids like hand cream, lipgloss and drinks etc so the limit is 100mls per item only in a clear plastic re-sealable bag similar to a freezer bag(only one allowed per person)and you have to have a certain dimension on this which you will find on the airlines website but when it comes to medical items and baby food this is the official statement :
Essential medicines and baby food may be permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit, but will be subject to the following authentication.
- Essential medicines in liquid form must be sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), all non-essential medical items must be placed in hold luggage. Passengers must also bring with them a medical declaration, e.g. prescription or other supporting documentation from a relevant qualified medical professional
- Baby milk and liquid baby food must be tasted by the accompanying parent or guardian at security searches
Rebecca asks...I am flying to brazil and ive got some herbal tablets to take but i still hate flying, i get quite ill and hate being in small spaces. I've sent the airline a Dr's note but do you think that will be enough to get me a seat where no- one will be in front of me. I am travelling with first Choice
Jo says: Hey Rebecca, thanks for the email..Brazil eh you lucky thing!! Anyhow, nerves are normal when flying for starters don't worry that your unsual with feeling this way you're not and its fine.
Now I used to work for First Choice and normally if you do have a doctors note then we used to try our best to comply. I would do a few things if I where you:
1. Ring the airline customer services or traffic and ask if they are doing anything for you? ie you maybe on row one with a bulkhead in front but not an emergency exit cos of your small spaces phobia possibly?
2. If the aircraft you are travelling on has a premium cabin (star class) then I would upgrade if you can afford it, there is bags of space and lots to takre your mind off flying, cabin crew one to one service and fab seats, legroom just gorgeous,
Now First Choice legroom is actually the biggest of all the charter airlines -a standard is 33 inch, which is about 4 inches more legroom than any other airline (charter)! Premier class is 36 inch legroom (take a look at the website).
Hopefully they will have you on row one and all will be fine, but ring and check before you get to the check in desk or upgrade and ask for row one (its worth it honestly).
Happy hols and let me know how you go on.
