Paul Harper

Paul Harper spent most of his school life acting the class clown, in detention and dreaming of being on the radio. "I wanted to be a couple of things when I was growing up, a removal man or DJ," says Paul.
In 1997 he became one of Britain's youngest radio presenters at just 15. "It was pretty cool finishing school on a Friday then doing my show on the radio at night. All my mates would tune in and I'm pretty sure the teachers did too, probably just to check I wasn't bad-mouthing them. For nine years I moved from city to city, gradually working my way up the schedules."
Along the way Paul interviewed some of the biggest names in music and broadcast live from around the world. "Presenting my breakfast show live from Jamaica was incredible, another high was meeting Kylie at her recording studio in London."
Between 2006 and 2007 Paul travelled the world stopping off in Asia, Australia and America. "I'm the only Scot to ever be on the radio in Sydney at the city's 2Day FM," a proud Paul explains. "I just turned up and got a job at the biggest radio station in Australia. How mental is that? I wonder if we will ever hire a back-packing Bruce or Sheila here at Real Radio."
Paul was deported after an incident with a sheep (well, he is Aberdonian) nearly a year and a half ago and after some blackmail landed his slot on Real Radio.
"I love it here, the team are great and so are our listeners. I know it sounds corny but I really missed Scotland when I was away. Little things made me think of home like a hangover without Irn Bru and hearing Simple Minds on the radio. I get my fix of both now everyday!"
