A spokesman for MTV said: "Manchester has played a key part in fostering new music and artists from the 60s right through to today’s breaking acts and, with such a significant musical heritage, it’s only fitting that we stage our next ‘MTV Crashes…’ event in the city.
It’s not just the 1,000 people inside the cathedral that will get to experience the magic of Alicia either as the performance will also be broadcast to a global audience of millions on the infamous TV channel MTV.
Only 500 tickets will be released to the public so demand is likely to be high.

If you want to win tickets just enter the competition on MTV’s website – entry closes 21st September 2012.
