The Changeling

Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie

Who's in it? Angelina Jolie John Malkovich:

What's good about it? Practically everything. Jolie's assured performance, Eastwood's direction and Malkovich's role as the moral conscience of the film. Eastwood hasn't made a bad film as a director. Oscar season starts right here.

What's bad? The LAPD. It is shocking that an entire police department could have been so corrupt, to the point of having Jolie's character admitted to an asylum because she had twigged what they had done to her.

Why should we pay a tenner for this? It's beautiful to look at and is a fascinating history lesson about LA in the late 1920s. Jolie's performance will knock you bandy and its based on a true story. Malkovich tends to play freaks and weirdos but this time he's a priest and Jolie's only friend.

Should we wait for the DVD? Go see at the cinema but get the DVD too as Eastwood always puts cool extras on.

Rating: 4/5 (Film and Jolie) 5/5 (Direction)
