Public File
Radio stations in the UK are regulated by law and Real and Smooth is committed to ensuring full and complete compliance to all sections of licensee requirements. The statutory regulator for all UK radio broadcast is OFCOM which awards licences and regulates content in accordance with the Broadcast Code.

All Real and Smooth stations strive to operate within the conditions of its licence and the Code at all times and welcome comments about its output. Should you wish to make any comments on any aspect of our output, please click the appropriate link as identified below and we endeavour to respond to all correspondence when required within a minimum of seven working days.

OFCOM also requires that we maintain a Public File which contains information about the provision of the Licensed Services in accordance with guidelines as drawn up and from time to time revised by OFCOM. The Public File is available via our website or by post, in hard copy to any member of the public upon reasonable request.

Bulletin Schedule:

Real Radio has a mix of local, national and international news broadcast every hour 6am-12midnight weekdays and 7am-12midnight weekends (except Sunday 5 and 6pm where there is no news bulletin during The Big Top 40 programme). Bulletins from the Sky News Centre can be heard every hour during the night. In additional to this half past headlines and sport can be heard every hour Monday to Friday on Real Radio Breakfast and Real Radio Hometime.

Local Programming:

Local programming can be heard weekdays from 6-10am and 4-7pm and at the weekend from 8am-12midday.

Network programming is broadcast at all other times from our sister station Real Radio North West with the exception of:

The Big Top 40 which is shared across the commercial radio network and broadcast from London.

Coverage/Support for Events & Charities

Our latest Bring £1 To Work Day took place on Thursday March 7th and raised a total of £70,000. We will continue where possible to support the charity through 2013 by supporting events both on and off the air.

Ewen and Cat’s Taste Test – Listen to Real Radio Breakfast every day at 6.45am as Ewen picks one song and Cat picks another. Then it’s your turn to vote for your favourite for the chance to hear it in full.

The All Request Workday – Every day from 9am until 5pm we give you the chance to pick a song on Real Radio. Text, call, email or Facebook Real Radio for your All Request Workday song.

The We Love Weekend – Every weekend we have a different theme. At least 2 songs every hour will air from our chosen theme.

The Feel Good Flashback – This can be heard weekdays for just under 30 mins at 9am, 6pm and 3am. Songs from a mystery year – but what was the year?

Your complaint will be acknowledged and a resolution will be reached within 10 days. You can make a further complaint if a resolution is not reached to OFCOM and/or the ASA (where applicable).
